I am Adriana Gasperi from Caracas, Venezuela, graphic designer, traditional and digital illustrator, and fine artist based in Portland, Oregon since 2017.
I earned an Associate in Art Degree from Palm Beach Jr College, Florida, 1986 and an Associate in Science Degree in Marketing Design from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, Florida 1988.
After graduating I worked as a production/designer manager at InstaSign, a vinyl lettering shop for three years in Florida, I was in charge of designing signs, sales and a few shop installations.
In 1991 I went back to Caracas, Venezuela and started working for Pfizer Venezuela in 1992, in the marketing department as the graphic designer, illustrator, and translator from English to Spanish, my duties were creating concept and design for all the medical promotional material for the work force, these included medical images (sometimes photoshoped or recolored and edited), lettering, charts, among other elements, and two medical magazines. In 1998 they decided to transfer their marketing department to Colombia but I kept working for Pfizer outsource until 2006. In the meantime, I registered my own company, Editorial AFF, C.A., which focused mainly on medical editorial design, bookcovers and books, magazines, illustration, and translation of medical articles, I freelanced for several pharmaceutical laboratories such as Aztra Zeneca, Novartis, Roche, Glaxosmithkline, Bayer among others.
In 2006, I started painting and became a full time artist, although I never stopped illustrating and designing.
When I came to Portland, Oregon, I worked at Artistic Portland a cooperative art gallery where I started selling my art and later, I started freelancing for three nonprofit organizations designing and illustrating their promotional material, flyers, newsletters, Facebook and Instagram events announcements, logos.
